Bulgaria Offers Great Value Ski Deals

In its latest report on ski resorts and family skiing holidays, the UK Post Office shows that Bulgaria is one of the most favourable in terms of value for snow lovers. The research looked into prices for winter 2009/2010 and was undertaken by Post Office Travel Services. It investigated the costs of lift passes and food within the top ski destinations across Europe and North America, for two people and a family of four. The data places the ski resort of Borovets in Bulgaria in second place out of 14 for value for money for ski passes and equipment hire.

A six day lift pass and six day ski / boot hire comes to 223.05 British pounds. Only Romania was cheaper. Canada comes in last place, where, or the same hire, it would set you back 379.37 pounds.

In their cost of living analysis, Bulgaria is again in second place, just .33 pence more than the cheapest resort, Slovakia's High Tatras. The report measured four items, which in Bulgaria were costed up to make a total of 27.82 pounds, including

France came in at 11th place with a total cost of living of 68.39 pounds

The combined costs of lift pass, ski and boot hire and cost of living, left Bulgaria overall in second position (250.87 pounds) more expensive than Romania but cheaper than Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy and France. Switzerland and Canada were the most expensive resorts.

For a family of four, two adults and two children aged 8 to 12, the total cost rose to 764.25 pounds in Bulgaria, again maintaining second position.
