Plovdiv Applies For History Projects' Financing Before Norway
Plovdiv applies for two projects financing in the sphere of culture-historical monuments in front Norwegian authorities.
The first project is of renovating and restoring of ancient Nebet Tepe and the other is about the Roman stadium.
The realization of these projects is part of the Plovdiv municipality strategy of creating Philipopol (ancient Plovdiv name) Underground Museum.
A complete prevention of the archaeological excavations is previewed, there will be installed video wall, projecting films of glorious Plovdiv past.
The project ‘s cost is estimated on 897,000 EUR as 85% are co-financed by the Norwegian Government and only 15% by Bulgaria.
Nebet Tepe, 203 meters above sea level, marks the northern end of Old Town Plovdiv. Remnants of the ancient fortress walls from Byzantine times are seen here. At the highest point of the hill is the ruined citadel that was built by a Thracian tribe in the 3rd century B.C.
